Focus on Research

Comprising the scientific aspect of the school in Halle are the three core competencies in which the competency of the school will focus on promising questions:

  * “Electronic Business”

“Electronic Business“ combines methods of information technology from business informatics with management concepts from various areas of business studies in an integrated attempt at IT-based business management. At the center is an integrated concept of usage and communications technology for efficient management of value chains from primary production to the final consumer. Modern IT attempts offer new options here, which constitute the core of the New Economy.

  * “Consulting”

Teaching and research are aligned with this focus in the training for qualified consulting work. Due to the tertiary sectoring of the economy, such consultancy functions are gaining ever-increasing importance. With global activities and higher acceleration, the need is growing toward more functional and institutional management consultancy in all areas of the service sector. With the broad orientation of professors, recognized practical orientation and existing diverse cooperation makes consulting an unmistakable core offering of the school.

  * “Empirical Economics and Policy Consulting”

Empirical economics analyzes connections on an empirical basis, develops quantitative models, and uses this for forecasting and policy consultancy with respect to the effects of political economists’ actions. The focus is characterized by the cooperation with the Institute für Wirtschaftsforschung Halle (IWH), one of the leading economic research institutes in Germany. Theoretical and methodological foundations, as well as their application to real-world problems, make up the core of the education in this area.
